From the heart of a seed
Dropped close to a wall,
Grew a pale green plant
So slim and tall.
Nourished by the raindrops
Kissed by the daily sun,
It formed a very small bud
Yes, there was only one.
Crowds passed by it
Each
and every day,
No one noticed
the plant
That was hidden away.
But one day a man
So feeble and old,
Noticed a bloom
Of the brightest gold.
He plucked the flower
In its first hour of life,
And took it home
To his ailing wife.
It was the one bright spot
In that shabby room,
That seemed to chase
away
All of the gloom.
Just think, if we all
In our own humble way,
Tried to
brighten up
Someone else's day.
